WHAT THE PLANNER ACTUALLY DECIDES

Not “things to do.” The structure of the trip.

Most China planning problems happen before anyone chooses an attraction: too many cities, the wrong station, a hotel in the wrong district, or a mountain day with no weather buffer.

01

Where to go

Cities and regions that match the season, time and feeling you described.

02

How long to stay

Enough time for the experience without changing hotels every night.

03

Where to base yourself

The useful district or lake side—not a paid hotel ranking.

04

How the route connects

Door-to-door transfer logic, demanding days and protected buffer time.

05

What to verify

Tickets, weather, schedules and other facts that can change before travel.

06

How to research locally

Optional Chinese Xiaohongshu keywords for original posts and images.

START WITH WHAT YOU KNOW

A city is useful. A vague feeling is also useful.

BEFORE YOU START

What ViaEast does—and does not do.

Does ViaEast book the trip?

No. ViaEast is planning software. It prepares the route and exact search briefs; travelers purchase independently from third-party suppliers.

Are prices live?

Not unless a price is explicitly labeled with its provider and timestamp. The current beta uses planning ranges and user-entered quotes.

Do I need to know Chinese cities?

No. You can start with a country, season, duration, interests or a reference image. If you already know a destination, ViaEast uses it.

Do I need Xiaohongshu?

No. It is an optional original-source research tool. Xiaohongshu may require its own free account; ViaEast never receives those credentials.
